The get-together had been planned a couple months in advance. It would be held at my place, where there would be just us girls ( hubby being  lovingly packed off on a weekend getaway  with his buddies). All of my seven girlfriends would set up camp at my place for two entire days. There would be food, music, gossip and laughter. Lots of laughter. Ah! Bliss!
Frankly, such days are so rare, when we girls  get an opportunity to let our hair down, and simply forget the world. How we were looking forward to it! And, to top it all, we would not be toiling away in the kitchen, sweating it out, while the world enjoyed outdoors. What is takeaway for?  Two of the girls had decided on the menu, again, couple months in advance!
There would be Chinese, and there would be Thai, and last, but not the least, there would be PIZZA – the all-time favourite of every person in our group. We had been drooling over the menu  since the day it was decided. K, being an expert at ordering takeaway, had already decided on calling up her trusted Pizzahut for our dinner. In fact, it was something that was on top of every mind. No sooner had everyone gathered than discussion on food began in full swing.
Health food, junk food, vegetarian fare, non-veg, Indian, Oriental, Moghlai…the talks just wouldn’t stop! Kids and their eating habits, their tantrums at the dining table, add to that the hubby’s tantrums about the health food on his plate! Every one had some or other grouse. But, when  lunch arrived, all was forgotten. The scrumptious, finger-licking (or, should I say, chopstick-licking?) Chinese, was finished in no time.
The afternoon spent in some gossip and some heart to heart chats, turned to evening, when our tummies began growling at the mere mention of the P word! Again, K, being Miss Know-all, enlightened us with her knowledge of 27coupons, a coupons distributor, which played Santa, giving discounts on our menu from Pizzahut. It was utter chaos when it came to placing the orders. The food had to be in a  large quantity. It was meant for eight chattering, hungry  women, who hadn’t had the time of their lives in quite a while. We decided to just go overboard.
Some wanted the appetisers, and  some  the pan pizza, some wanted to try out the new chilli cheese garlic bread, while someone else wanted the plain garlic bread, and we all wanted the desserts. A few medium size pizzas were ordered, as we would be getting discounts on other medium size pizzas. It was the perfect ‘Alice in Wonderland’ moment for us all!  Thankfully, because K had it all written down, it proved  easy placing the orders.
And, finally, when  the favourite pizzas were being wolfed down, there was pin drop silence! No, there were the moans and the groans, followed by the giggles and the chuckles. How can one ever eat a Pizza silently?!  It was one never ending dinner we had  that night, the memories of which bring back that heavenly taste on my tongue even today! The Thai lunch the next day, was equally amazing, but, it’s the Pizza that would stay on our minds for days to come.
The get-together was a memorable one. While saying our good byes, we all decided to have many more such get-togethers, and have the same menu ordered from the same places. Thus, looking forward to the next meeting, each girl went back home rejuvenated, and satiated!
