I took up pencil sketching in 2014.
One day, as I sat with an open drawing book, wondering whom I would draw, I realised I didn’t have to look far. My pet dog, my son, Chikoo, was right there, waiting to be immortalised in my very first pencil sketch! Of course, he did not model for me. He had zero patience when it came to getting his picture clicked, so expecting him to sit still for an hour or two, was mission impossible. I had to click a snapshot which helped me with my sketch. Fortunately, for me, the sketch came out rather well. I was jubilant!
SInce then, I sketched a lot of dogs. A dog from every breed was my goal. Sketching their eyes is what gives me utmost satisfaction. Their eyes speak volumes and if an artist can capture the emotions that run through their model’s mind, well, it’s the greatest achievement for them!
