3 quotes to use as ‘Positive self-talk’.

The words that we repeat to ourselves have the power to lift us up or push us down, cheer us on or discourage us. In short, these are the words that can make us or break us.

These words are called, SELF-TALK, that plays a huge role in how we think about ourselves, how we face our fears and our anxieties and how we support ourselves in the race called LIFE.

An important part of self-care is self-love, and to love ourselves, we need to know the precise words that will help keep our spirits high during life’s every endeavour. And, it’s these words that we call positive self-talk!

Positive self-talk can work miracles in not only keeping us on our path but also helping us fight the self-doubt that’s a huge threat to our self-confidence.

For a person with anxiety issues, positive self-talk is like a balm for the soul, that can be used as a shield against anything that stands in one’s way.

One of the most important parts of self-care is loving oneself, working towards being the best version of oneself and also being one’s biggest support system.

And, positive self-talk is what comes in handy when one is on this path of self-discovery and self-improvement.

Positive self-talk is as simple as talking to yourself the way you would talk to someone you love. Encouraging yourself, cheering yourself as you would cheer others from the sidelines and keeping your spirits high with the right words is what positive self-talk is all about.

Sharing today, three of my favourite quotes that are the best examples of positive self-talk that I use for myself!

Be good -- to YOURSELF

We often judge ourselves a bit too harshly, isn’t it? In fact, we judge ourselves. Isn’t that a greater sin?

That niggling voice that keeps us forever on an edge; which hisses at us the moment we give ourselves some leeway? It is this voice that we need to shut up, forever.

Why do we encourage it? Why do we even pay heed to its demands, the ruthless comparisons, the constant torture that can wreak havoc on our mental well-being?

Do you know that treating ourselves kindly is the least we can do for our soul? Why, then, is it so difficult for us to give ourselves some consideration, show some empathy, and a bit of love?

It’s we who will be seeing ourselves through every storm that we face in life. Won’t we?

Live in the here and the now

The moment that was, is never going to return. The moment that will be, is but a mirage. So, why not live in this moment and make the most of it?

Do we even have an inkling about what the next moment might bring along with it? Let us learn to live in the here and the now.

Let Life bring with Her whatever She wishes; let’s just be present at this moment and revel in it. It will surely relieve the mind of all the torture we subject it to by over-thinking about all that doesn’t even exist!

Often times, it’s our imagination that ruins us, more than reality would!

FOCUS on what you want.

And,  this quote is one that I diligently follow. Yes, there are times when I let it slip, but the Universe finds ways to remind me about it and get me back on track!

This is the only life we have, why not make the most of it?

No dream is frivolous if it is about doing something to make ourselves happy!

No dream is too big or too small if you have it in you to follow your heart and fulfil that dream. If you think it’s what’s going to make you happy, then, just go for it!

You may not know if your plans come to fruition, but at least you will be happy you did your best!

Reach out for that happiness, if it’s all that your life depends on.

Life isn’t long; it’s, in fact, riddled with uncertainties. So, why not use this moment to reach out to that little dream that stands to make you happiest?

These are some of the quotes I inspire myself with. There are some more which I will share some other time. For now, though, it’s just learning to focus on the ‘SELF’ – the most neglected part of our lives! And, using these quotes as positive self-talk is what I work on.

What are the quotes that motivate you? Do share with me, I would love to know.

  1. I believe that the Universe keeps an eye out for all of us, just in case. It may seem coincidence but how else can we explain the timely solutions that we stumble upon when there was no chance of it. Those are some precious gems you shared, Shilpa. Be good to yourself, take care of yourself, I tell that to myself. I need to pay attention it now. 🙂

  2. Shilpa, love your quotes. I had read You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, when I was going through tough emotional times. It too talks about loving yourself first. Living in the present moment, my dad taught me that one. There are many more quotes I like and use as affirmations when I feel like giving up. I wrote a quote for my blog and am sharing it here – We live because we remember. Memories are precious, treasure them.

    1. That’s beautiful, and something to be remembered always, Sulekha!
Memories are precious…treasure them. That’s something I always do. Treasure all the beautiful memories, like pieces of precious jewels! ❤
Thank you so much for sharing your personal favourite! ❤

  3. I love these self-affirmations. It is very important to take care of ourselves, and I think on some level we all know this, yet more often than not we neglect it. Sad, but true state of affairs.

However, in my case, I have gotten better at this, better at taking time outs for myself, better at giving myself some grace, better at just being at peace with myself. And that makes it easier to deal with everything and everyone else.

  4. Yes, have come across some amazing quotes when I needed to read them the most. I like the positivity and the sense of direction these few words give me. I love John Lennon’s quote , Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end. This quote has helped me have patience and focus in some trying times.

  5. Oh this is such an inspiring post Shilpa! Wonderful and true. I just love the quote “live in the moment.” It is really important to remember and respect the importance of the moment, life is too unpredictable, not to. Beautiful post 🙂

  6. Nothing like quotes to lift one up. While ‘Live and Let Live’ is a quite that I love and follow, my current favorite one is ‘What is worth having, is worth fighting for’.

  7. Loved all those quotes. The simple ones are the ones that strike the chord in the right way. Happiness, self-love, and self-belief are all in our hands and hearts. We may not be the best but we are who we are. I believe in positive thoughts attracting positivity in life. See how your birdie came to love you 🙂

  8. The third quote in the post speaks to me. If there is something which makes me happy, I will do it. Or even the other way round – if something is not going to make me happy, I am not going to do it, at any cost. I may still go ahead and do certain of these unwanted things and then I tell myself this is no reason to be unhappy about since I could have said No but I didn’t so and it is my own doing. When we resort to blaming others for our situations, then unhappiness is guaranteed.

  9. The quotes are helpful. I have trouble with self esteem, too, and I believe that I have lost the race called life. Here is a quote that helps me a good deal: “If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” (Vincent Van Gogh)
