A few lessons I learned from Life.

Life is an eventful journey, isn’t it?

There are moments that test our patience and drain us emotionally. Moments, when we lose our love, and also find it, all over again. And moments that have us doubting our capabilities. And, it’s from these moments that we realise we learn so much!

I was watching a movie during lunch today, where a line spoken by an actor resonated with me.

“Bad things will happen. That’s not negotiable. But, what matters is how you deal with those bad things”

I have always been a timid person by nature. My anxiety hits the roof when things start going awry. But, I know that it’s from the things that go wrong, and plans that do not take off that there emerges something a lot more precious and beautiful. Something we may never have anticipated. Something a lot better than what we  had wished for.

Sharing today, a few lessons we are bound to learn in our life, sometime; lessons that, actually, are only given to make us a better version of ourselves.

LESSONS FROM LIFE:

1   Not everyone you meet will walk alongside you through your journey. Some  will leave you midway, and some you will meet when you least expected. But, none of them will be with you forever. From every soul that you meet, you will take away something precious; something that will stay with you for as long as you live. Something that will make for beautiful memories to reminisce on a dull, rainy day!  But, the bottom line is ‘You are on your own, so learn to enjoy your company!’

2  You may lose someone you love. But, always keep the doorway to your heart  wide open. The  love you lost  will find its way back some time soon. All you need to do is have faith in the Universe. It really listens. You know?

3  Most of the plans you make will not come to fruition. Be grateful they don’t, for you know not what you would have had to face!  Always be ready with a Plan B.  And, have faith in the Universe! And, patience. Lots of patience. Oh, and also be ready to chuck Plan B out, into the sea!

4  Be thankful for the difficulties you face. If you are being tested, you are being perfected. It’s something I have come to believe in. Maybe we go through all the tough times that we do just so that we emerge out of it stronger, wiser. I am sure that when you look back at what you were and compare it to what you are, you will be happier and prouder of your present selves. Try it!

5  Your thoughts have a magnetic power that attract the vibes you send out into the Universe. So, as difficult as it may feel, dump all the negativity in the trash bin and be positive! As cliched as it may sound, it’s a fact.  Don’t you agree?

I had been going through an all time low for quite some time now, despite being in a better space than I was earlier. The feelings of worthlessness  had really left me with no hope, and worse, no respect for myself.

But, it’s in the past few days that I realised something. If I was to consider life as a race and compare myself with all those around me, I would only find myself in a position much lower than the others. Or, a position higher, which again isn’t the truth.

Life is not a race. Every individual here comes from a background that’s as diverse as there are individuals around us. Living life according to where we come from, based on our strengths, and fighting our weaknesses to reach the goals we set for ourselves is what truly makes sense.

Well, what do you think?

What are the lessons you learned from Life, so far?

Lots of love,

SHILPA…

Life teaches us lessons every step of the way.

  1. This was such a beautiful reflective post and in a way peaceful. I feel you are at peace with yourself. I know losing Chikoo was so hard on you. Being a fellow pet parent, I know exactly what you went through and I’ve said many prayers for you. But you found the lovely Cookie when you least expected it. I also agree with you that we may meet loads of people in our journey called life but we must always love ourselves the most. I hope you have a beautiful and happy 2018, my friend! Hopefully, we can meet in the coming year.

    1. Thank you so much, Rachna! I know, it’s the love and the blessings and prayers of my friends and family that saw me through all the tough times I had.
Yes, loving myself is one thing I have learnt this year and I can vouch for the healing qualities of self love!
Wishing you, too, a beautiful new year, my dear! And, I too hope we meet in 2018! 😛

  2. Shilpa it has been a year of a lot of changes for you, some good, some bad but loads of upheavals. These are bound to leave some emotional scars. But better to be scarred after trying than not having tried at ll. The movie, Secret is supposed to be really motivational. I am glad it infuses you with much needed positivity, never let that leave you. Love, hugs and best wishes for a fruitful New year!

  3. Loved your reflective words and reading you, those were lessons for me too. Chickoo’s loss was hard on you but I saw you (virtually) warming up to welcome Cookie. This year, I loved reading you. May be in the past I did not read your posts but this year, I loved your words and reflections. The change to Metonia was also good 🙂
Here’s wishing you a 2018 that’s fabulous and may you shine and stay positive.

  5. I must admit I’m a huge sceptic about the secret and law of attraction and stuff. However, I am all about setting goals and working towards what you want in spite of the speed humps. Yes, sometimes we will have more barriers but we always learn from those. I love the lessons you’ve learnt this year and I hope 2018 has wonderful things in store for you!

  6. Lovely lessons Shilpa … bad things are imminent what matters is how we deal with them. Also as you rightly mentioned comparing ourselves with others will only lead to discontent, we all have our unique journeys , different paths, priorities and destinations. Wishing you a joyous New Year, may you grow , stay happy and spread thr cheer

  7. I am a serious believer in the concepts talked about in the book Secret and I have applied the same to my life and seen the difference it has made. Those who say they don’t get the law of attraction are yet to dispel the doubt and negativity (howsoever miniscule) present in them to let the law work effortlessly for them. How true is the fact that we meet people for a reason. They cross our path in lives to make us learn new lessons and then they leave when there role gets over. It is to us whether we see them as lessons, good or bad; and in case of bad experiences, whether we choose to complain and fret about ‘no humanity left, no achhai left and so on’ or keep the lessons and move on. Love finding its way into our lives again when we keep our hearts opened – I saw it happening to you and I am happy for it. Cookie taking over the reins from Chikoo to keep your life filled with love, can there be a better instance than this. I wish the 2 words ‘Hope and Faith’ that you have chosen for 2018 keep showing you the light on the way forward. It is nothing else but our minds which pull us back and down and we are not just a function of our mind, we are a bigger and stronger force than our mind and we can definitely train it to be positive and to propel us up, up and up.
Okay, on a lighter note, so there are 2 movies for re-runs in 2018 😀

  8. Thank you for such a beautiful response to my post, Anamika!
I have begun applying the rules of the Secret to my life, and it is basically up to me and my belief, if I am able to make any changes. So, as you said, it is all in our mind, about how we control our mind and work towards making things happen.
Thank you so much, Anamika! I hope and pray the new year brings a lot of joy in your life as well…joy and peace!

And, yes….true about the two films! 😛
