Hope.

As I sit in the hospital lounge,  sending out prayers for the quick recovery of my loved ones, I think about each life I see around. Every soul, beating for its dear ones, toils day and night in a desperate attempt to fight against time; fighting to bring back those who now stand on the threshold of a new world. Each soul has a prayer on its lips and hope in its heart, that all’s not lost, yet. That, there is still a  chance that the tides will turn, for the better.
We humans are blessed to be born with the ability to ‘hope’. Hope. The one word on which the world survives. How aware we are, that one day it will all end; the life for which we strive so hard, will come to an end. And, yet, we keep going. No matter what. How well we know, that those holding our hands today, are as mortal as we are, and will  not be by our sides as time will whisk them away from us some day,  and yet, we shed every drop of blood and sweat for their survival, for their happiness. All in the hope that  those moments we are together, there will be smiles and laughter in every heart around us.
We are here, for an uncertain, but a certainly short period of time, still, we aspire to find joy in every breath we take, every moment we live. And, during this short, yet precious span of time, how well we manage to build dreams, for ourselves, for our people, and labour endlessly to fulfil those dreams. All the while clinging to that single thread of hope, that the happiness we have achieved out of those dreams, will be enough to last us on our journey here.
Hope. Every breath that God takes, is hope.  His breath that we hold on to so that we are able to breathe, is  hope. Have you wondered what we would do had there been no God to help us hope, help us live, and survive?

  1. “Prayer on its lips and hope in its heart.”… You write so beautiful about hope, dear Shilpa. I have been there, sitting in a hospital waiting room…with my mind on hope… Very emotional and beautiful read. We say “hope is the last thing that dies” “without hope everything is over”, and I totally believe so. Sending you warm hugs dear friend… keep writing:-)
