For the love of Peanut Butter.

Featured post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

Did you know that November is the Peanut Butter Lovers’ Month? I had no idea about it until I stumbled upon this really amusing concept that was started back in 1995.

I have always loved Peanut Butter. Actually, I love butter; just the word ‘Butter’ has me drooling, and that’s why I thought of doing this post on Peanut Butter.

So, peanut is actually a legume–and not a nut–which is packed with nutrients like:

Vitamin B6

Β Vitamin E

…all packed in the tiny peanut. I read that peanuts also contain reservetrol–the anti-ageing molecule found in grapes, as well as healthy fats that cut cholesterol.

A handful of peanuts a day are enough to avail of the nutrients found in them.

Roasted peanuts are my favourite. And, to add to their nutritional value, I eat a handful of roasted peanuts with some jaggery as a dessert post lunch or dinner. If you haven’t had it ever, do try it out. The combination of peanuts and jaggery is awesome in taste, too!

At times, I fry some peanuts and sprinkle those on theΒ poha that we have for breakfast. This, too, improves not only the taste of the dish, but also its nutritional value.

And, finally, I love peanuts in the butter form the most! Be it the crunchy variety or the creamy, Peanut Butter makes for an excellent snack when spread on a chapati or bread when I suffer from hunger pangs in the middle of the day, or night, or evening, or whenever.

The chapati-Peanut Butter roll/Peanut Butter sandwich is not only filling, but also nutritious. It is reassuring knowing that this snack that I have is not just some junk that I stuff to satisfy my hungry belly, but food that my body benefits from.

Just dipping my finger to scoop out some Peanut Butter from the jar is one of the most satisfying experiences for me!

How about you? Do you like Peanut Butter? Are you a diehard fan? If you are, then wish you, too, a very happy Peanut Butter Lovers’ Month!

  1. I used to think i wouldn’t like it, honestly. But I’ve grown to love peanut butter over the years. Haven’t even tried it in many variations… Just basic toast with peanut butter πŸ™‚

      1. Ohhh….Now, that’s something I wasn’t aware of! Although, hubby doesn’t buy the one manufactured in India.. Ironical, I know, me being an Indian and valuing products manufactured abroad! πŸ˜›

  2. Shilpa I didn’t know it had a month dedicated to it. I am not a peanut butter fan, but both my husband and daughter are. My daughter takes chocolate peanut butter roti roll while my husband enjoys it with apple. Can you imagine?? We make our own peanut butter at home too.

  3. I like peanuts in food… Makes it so crunchy and flavourful. I sometimes have peanut butter with a slice of bread as it is the quickest breakfast I can dish out. Didn’t know there’s a whole month dedicated to it. πŸ˜€

    1. Hibby bought the American Garden’s U.S. Peanut butter (creamy). I just love to eat it, but don’t know any brands. 😜
But do try it out.. Get a smaller jar, though. In case you don’t like it in the butter form! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

  5. I love love loveeeeeee this post because I’m totally crazy about Peanut butter! Actually peanut is my favorite nut and I love it in any form. A chunky peanut butter sandwich sprinkled with cinnamon and chia seeds is my favorite along with a banana peanut butter sandwich.

You can use peanut butter is so many forms and I love its flavor! Have you tried roasting/sauteing vegetables in peanut butter instead of regular oil or ghee? Try it, it is simply delicious!

November is the month of peanut butter lovers? Well, now I do have to do a post on it, right? πŸ™‚

    1. Yayy! Hi-five, Soumya! πŸ™‚
I liked the idea of peanut butter+cinnamon+chia seeds sandwich and will surely give it a try. But, first I am going to try out roasting my veggies in peanut butter. I too love peanuts. I use groundnut oil for cooking and the aroma it gives when heated, brings me alive! So, I am sure using peanut butter for roasting veggies will be equally interesting!
      Thanks for the idea! ❀

  6. I love peanut butter! Tomorrow, I’m going to make pasta (or maybe spaghetti squash) with a peanut sauce. I like the chunky type of peanut butter to get more crunchiness into my diet. Also, I use the peanut butter that only has peanuts and a little salt in the listing of ingredients.

    1. Pasta with peanut sauce does sound interesting, Alice!

I, too, prefer the crunchy kind as it gives me a stronger flavour of peanuts. This time, though, hubby got home the creamy one. Will finish it using as a bread-spread! πŸ™‚
